This year the Oktoberfest will open its gates on September the 22nd, but the construction of the world-famous beer tents begins ten weeks earlier. The local people call it the "Wies'n" (fairground). Oktoberfest is the largest public festival in the world. It commences every year on the second to last Saturday of September with the parade of the landlords of the beer tents and the breweries from the center of town to the Theresienwiese (festival grounds). A brash young rock band in 96, these guys are now defunct, although some of them are still plying their trade as the band Hell Is For Heroes.
